A finished piece.. Happy May Day!

Such a dreary day out there today, but enjoyed myself with finishing up a piece that Betty Dekat designed and so graciously shared as a free pattern. I thought it was so sweet, and just had to stitch it up. Just in time for May Day today! I had started this on Wednesday evening while I was at Grant Street Woolworks, and then finished up the stitching last night. I had met up with Joanne and Cheryl to go to the Salvation Army fabric fair that they have once a year in Chambersburg. I had met them both in person for the first time last year. I had talked back and forth with Joanne for a while before that. We had met on line in our rug hooking group. Cheryl is from Indiana and has an Aunt that helps out with the fabric fair. So her and her 2 sisters and mom came down to spend the week again.

You never know what you will find at this fabric fair. I think I bought more last year than I did this year, but I'm not complaining lol. It's a mad house to say the least. Very crowded. They have it for 3 or 4 days, and in all honesty, if you don't go the first day, you will have slim pickings. People buy out the place literally. I had gone back on Thursday and was able to take my time with the craft books/magazines/pamphlets. I found a few cross stitch pamphlets that I will definitely use. For .20 each, you can't go wrong. Also found some cotton fabric pieces to back my punch needle/cross stitch pieces that I make. The backing to the May Day I found yesterday, and I just love it.

So after we were all done there, we stopped for a bite to eat and then I took them to 2 shops in Chambersburg that had some primitive items and we just browsed and got ideas. Took Joanne to her car and she followed us to Linda's at Grant Street Woolworks. We brought stuff to work on. Linda was nice enough to open up her place for a hooking get together. When we got there, Sherry and Marion and Doris were there. I actually met Sherry at the fabric fair last year on the second day that I went back. It's always empty and you can see what's left. We struck up a conversation about rug hooking. What's really funny, is that I saw her again on the second day this year too lol. We chatted for quite a bit. I'm hoping to see her at Linda's this month at their hook-in. Here she is whipping her rug. It's really nice. Looks like Marion is getting some ideas, and everyone else is just chatting.

Cheryl showed us her memory rug that she made for Terry. He passed away about 2 years ago. Its' just wonderful and I can't wait to see how it comes together. Terry's name is written in the stream. Very nice idea. What a gorgeous smile she has!

Here is another rug she is working on, and this one she chose to hook on that evening. And here is THE sock that she knitted. Joanne and I had heard so much about THE sock. We think she should just frame the "one" lol. She did a great job. I think she is making a pair.
I can't believe I didn't get a picture of Joanne, but I did get a shot of what she was working on. (next time Joanne). They are the cutest pin cushions. She is using the ball jar zinc lids. Aren't they sweet?
Ok, this was a funny part. Linda has 2 dogs. Louis (they call him Louie) and Bo (I think that is what his name is). Anyway, Linda has some sheep throughout her shop for decoration. Well Louis was sitting there whimpering at this sheep. You could just hear it in his cry how he wanted it. It was too darn cute. Linda's husband Rick put the sheep down on the table to show how he gets. Here they are both interested, and then the next one Louis was crying up a storm. Too cute. Rick said they have to be careful, because he likes all the animals, and he can jump up on the table.

We stayed for quite a while, and then decided to get a bite for dinner before ending the night. Still wish Linda would have come with us. Next time Linda!!
Cheryl was going to Lancaster I believe the following day. I'm sure she had a good time. Wishing her a safe ride home back to Indiana! Hope to see you again next year at the Fabric fair!
Other than finishing up the pillow today, I had a doctors appointment this morning. Need to figure out what is going on with me. It's all just frustrating. So I got some blood work done and will go back and see him next week to hear the results. I'm going out to dinner tonight with my girlfriends, and I'm looking forward to it.
Thought I was going to help my son move some things today to his new apartment, but I haven't heard from him. He went to a concert last night, so who knows, he may still be sleeping lol. I'm sure this weekend we'll get to go over and see how everything is going.
Wishing everyone a terrific weekend! Keep your hands busy.........

Kathy, it sounds like you had so much fun. And it's always nice to come to your blog, check out the pictures and find someone working on one of Judy Cripps' patterns...the Mary Deer one. Judy is my teacher and friend.
