Keeping up the pace

Trying to keep up the pace with posting. I have another busy weekend ahead of me. And I need to get started shortly.   Yesterday was the hook in at Grant Street. A pretty quiet day. I think the weather is keeping some away, some are busy with their youngsters sports games, and some were sick... (sorry Joanne, feel better sooooon!!)

Marion did come out in the morning and was working on a gift. I really like how it is turning out.

Of course there were some issues of getting their picture taken lol.

I just waited :)

Pat also came out to join us.  Great catching up with both these girls.  Love how Pat is  using all her worms up for this rug she has designed.  Such a neat hooker!!

How Pat carries around her noodles. Sooo organized :)

Nancee finished her hooking!  Love that border. She just needs to sew the binding down on the back. Great job! She is headed out for the weekend, but I'm sure will have her next one transferred and started next week!

Barb was working on a quilt.  Another one I had to wait to get a picture of.

So colorful!!

Linda was working on the rug she calls her "dusty" rug.  It's soo pretty. Love the colors she is using.

Sherri came in the evening and was working on the border for her cats.  I'm in love with this background red. I'm thinking a red background for a future rug of mine ? :).

I was playing around with my wools for my rug. Seeing if there was anything I didn't like.  I'm thinking it will all work, but I am not afraid of ripping lol.  And speaking of Pat being so organized with her strips.  I am not organized when I hook.  Whether it be here or at home.  I am a mess. Linda was talking about that too. I take up so much room, snippets all over the place, etc.  I see some with their worms all tidy and they pull one at a time without making a mess.  Might work on that.  "Might" I said  :).   Perhaps my creativity comes from my messiness!

I really did get some hooking done yesterday! Hoping to find some time this weekend to get more done.

Lots to do this weekend. Need to start today by getting some bills paid, and making out a grocery list.  My husband gets paid the last day of each month, so there is lots of budgeting to do.  By the end of the month, there are times when the cupboards are bare... And no matter how many times my daughter or husband open up the cabinet doors, nothing new appears lol (they are hoping though). So it's time to do some shopping!

I also have some flowers to deliver for some people on the home care list at our church. My Bible class is doing a community project together. Looking forward to meeting the few that I have been given to visit and hoping to bring a smile to their face with a flower.

Tomorrow is my daughters Senior Prom.  She is counting down the days till she Graduates....  So tomorrow will be getting the hair done, etc.  Will be taking some pictures to share. It's supposed to be really nice weather tomorrow :)

I am not moving very quickly this morning. Will need another cup of coffee in me before I start with my day.  And here it's almost lunch time! Times a wasting......

Wishing you all a glorious weekend ~~~

What a Wonderful Weekend ~~

I can't speak for everyone, but the weather this past weekend was absolutely gorgeous! I just keep telling myself there is more to come..
I was able to finish all that I had planned on Friday evening as far as the cooking went. Packed my car and went to bed. Was up bright and early to head on out to meet my friend Beth at Thymes Remembered.  I had that gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket!  Well, I searched and searched, had thought of buying this or that. But nothing said "take me home".  I did however get these two pieces. I'm always looking for something to soften up/dress up an area.  I will be going back when they put the Easter stuff away and come out with some newer things.

From there we headed on  over to the Black Rose Antique shop.  Love walking around in that place.  Beth and I are always making silly comments about some stuff.  And I have to tell Joanne that there were plenty of drawers to be opened.  So Beth didn't go through withdraw lol. (Beth has a thing about drawers). I hope some day she gets to own one of these :)

While walking around, we saw Nancee there.  She gave us a tip when it comes to buying.  Going to use that some time Nancee, thank you!  We headed out to lunch after that and ate at the Diner we like. We even split a dessert :).  Nancee had told me about another Antique place out there, so I took my Garmin along and off we went. It was really close by.  We enjoyed it a lot, and will definitely go back!!  Here are a couple things I bought. Forgot that I bought the wire basket at the Black Rose.   Beth and I went halfers on the old tin molds. It was a full tin.   We will be making things with these. And then I got the loaf tins for storage or gifts.  Haven't decided what to do with them yet. But I loved the design on them.

Beth's car was back at the Black Rose and I took her back to drop her off.  I had already called George and told him to get himself something for dinner. We were having too much fun and it was an hour drive home anyway.  So we were able to take our time.  When we got back to the car, I thought of all I had to do when I got home. All that cooking, cleaning, etc.  Didn't want to go home lol.  It was sooo beautiful out.  Soo I told Beth I wanted to walk around the Black Rose again.  She came in too.  It was a quick walk through, but I did find this box that I didn't see before.  Sometimes they have things displayed and you only look at what they are displaying, not the piece they are displaying it in.  It came home with me!  And then Beth found this little tin for me for a buck..

It was a great drive home with the windows open.  I got right to work when I got home and I'm thinking I shouldn't have stopped for that coffee for the ride back.  Because I had a hard time settling down to sleep on Saturday night.  It was after 1:00 am when I finally layed my head on the pillow.  I opted out of Sunday school to get a little more sleep so I could enjoy the Easter Service.  It was wonderful.    Came home and just waited on Craig and Lake and Nicole's friend Sam.  Never did get pictures of the day on Easter. Such a relaxing day with family :)  They all left late afternoon, and then I plopped on the couch.  Was feeling guilty of just sitting there, so I did get up and finish hooking my cream horse.  I have my reds all picked out for the other horse, and was ready to strip them up and start hooking last night, but got side tracked on this computer. Hate when that happens!!  But there is always tonight :).

Well, I better get my lunch packed and get ready to help out at the shop today.  Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day.  Just wish I had the nerve to wear capri's or shorts.  Not ready for that yet lol.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!! Thanks for stopping by :)

It's now or never...

Not much time this weekend to get this posting in, so it's now or never.....  I wanted to share this piece with you that I have finally finished. Well, it's not glued on the board yet. Will do that as soon as I get the time.  A while back, Robin from Bird in the Hand Primitives, a member of the ebay group AAPG that I belong to, asked if anyone was interested in punching up a piece for her that she needed to get done for the Mercantile Gatherings magazine.  I was not in the middle of any projects at that time, so I volunteered.  She emailed me the pattern, a colored picture of her idea for it, and I took it from there.   I punched and punched and punched and had it done in just a couple days. It measures 6 1/2"x 6 1/2". Robin had a deadline to meet and I didn't want it to be late for her.  I took a picture of it when I was finished and she submitted the piece along with all the information I gave her.  It is now a free pattern in the Spring issue of Mercantile Gatherings. I'm really happy for Robin!!  I just painted up the board for it this past week.

I was also able to finish hooking the background of this piece I started at the hook in a few weeks ago. I'm glad it's done. Will whip these when nothing else is going on.

This is the next piece I have chosen to hook.  it is 17" x 49".   I saw this anitque rug in the American Sewn and Hooked Rugs book and have always wanted to do it.  One of the girls Nancee that comes to the hook in did this rug a while back.  I measured the area between my two windows in my front room, and chose this spot for it.  The hook in was booming again with lots of people, but I did manage to get a few loops hooked..  The other horse will be red.
Nancee is looking at Joan's leaf rug.  Joan designed this piece herself  from leaves on her property.

Nancy P. called Linda and said she was bringing some women with her.  What a happy sight to see when I went down on the elevator to get them. There were 7 of them just waiting to climb on board  :)!

Here is Linda working on a Bea Brock design.  I just love the colors that she is working with.

Cil is working on this bird pattern.

Suzanne is doing a Needlepoint piece.  I was telling her of a store that I used to go to when I lived in NJ. It was a large framing store that had cross stitch and Needlepoint patterns. I always admired them, but didn't know how they were done.  Suzanne makes up her own patterns.  So sweet!

Chris is working on a version of an antique rug.  Love how it's coming along..

Monica was working on a cute house with a rabbit.

Nancy P had designed a pattern to use as a screen for her fireplace. A very simple design but lots of pop on that background. Very nice!

Erica was working on a punch needle piece. We were all in awe of how nice her punching is.

And here is another one that she had in her bag that she finished and shared with us. Isn't it beautiful?

Barb was being talked to in a few different directions when I took this picture. I couldn't get a straight shot lol.  Love the rug she is working on too!

Ruth had stopped by to sit and hook with us.  She also goes to the Chambersburg group.  I'm glad I got a chance to sit and talk with her  for a bit.  She is working on this snowman pattern.

Genny was just filled with surprises tonight.  A "nacho" secret pal gave her this basket of wool :).

And she was sooo surprised to get this egg that Joanne had hooked and left for her the last time she was out. Genny won the egg for guessing what her footstool was.  She couldn't wait to put it on her table for Easter!

Now here is an image that you may Never see again.  Joan on a cell phone LOL, LOL. Ok, sorry.  LOL, no I'm not!!!  Joan always says that she will never own a cell phone.  So it was a treat to catch her using Linda's.  Kandace had called Linda asking her a question about the Bliss cutter.  Linda handed Joan the phone and Joan was reading some instructions out of a book.  I hope Kandace has it all figured out.

Jackie is deciding what to do with her border. I can't wait to see it!

And she is finished with the bottom half of her bunny rug. Her Grandson Jack I'm sure is thrilled.  She chose some wools for the top half. I bet we see what it looks like next week :) !!!

Sherri is really working hard on her cat rug. I just love the red background.  We were talking about her border and what she could do with it.

She will be reverse hooking the diamond and making it a solid color and then will try using her cat colors for the hit n miss border.

It was a great day spent with all these Gals.  And I hope they come back real soon to hook! I'm thinking Linda is going to have to expand soon and get more seating :).   We got out of the shop at a reasonable time last night, and that was a good thing. Because today I had Dye Group at Joan's.   We are working on transitional swatch dyeing.  I had some homework of getting an 8 value swatch done for todays class. We are all making a book for ourselves with the formula's and then we will be doing a pattern.  That will be a much later post. We only meet once a month.  I have 3 more swatches to get done before next month.  I'd say we had a really productive day and just kept on plugging along.  Each of us had our own little part to do. I did the glueing, Jewel and Joan did some cutting. And Nancy, Louise and myself also dyed some more swatches while we were there.  Definitely a full days work!

Jewel brought along a piece that she had finished.  Joan had gifted this pattern to her.  The S is for her last name.  She did a wonderful job with it. Love how she added a border to the piece!

Jewel also brought along this quilt that her Granddaughter Vicky made.  There was so much to look at. So very sweetly done!

It was after 3:00 when I left Joan's house and I had to do the rest of my shopping for Easter dinner.  I have already cooked the meatballs tonight, and will stick them in the crock pot on Sunday.  Also boiled the eggs for deviled eggs that I will make tomorrow night, along with cooking the ham and macaroni salad.  Then on Sunday, all I will have to cook is the chicken.  Crazy menu, eh?  Talk about picky eaters LOL.

I'm trying to get as much done as I can tonight, because tomorrow I am meeting up with my friend Beth out at Thymes Remembered.  I have that gift card that is burning a whole in my pocket that I got from my Secret Pal for Easter :).  From there, I'm sure we will hit the Black Rose to  look around and then get some lunch.  I also have directions for an Antique Mall that Nancee told me about. It's not far from where we will be.  I still need to pack my car tonight with the boxes of stuffffff that I will transfer into Beth's car so she can take them to her Church for their annual yard sale.  Busy, busy, busy.......

I am just hoping that come Sunday evening, I won't be too exhausted. I would really like to hook some more on my rug.  Well, I'm off to get the laundry done, kitchen cleaned up and car packed.

Wishing each and every one of you a very Blessed Easter. Such a special day.... He has risen!

Are you shocked?

That I'm posting the morning after the hook-in??  Well, I am!  I'm even surprised I'm up and moving lol.  Another late night at Grant Street for me.  We had a really nice day yesterday. Not a big turn out like the previous weeks, but just enough to have a wonderful time.  Always something to talk about, share, etc.

I had a hair appointment in the morning, so I got there around 12:30 or so.  Joanne, Marion and Linda were there.  I didn't have my bags unpacked, and Marion was already leaving.  I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of the rug she is working on for a wedding gift.  I think she is doing a great job! It was good to see her, and I hope she comes back when she has free time to hook with us soon!

Joan came, and she finished her BIG rug that is also a wedding gift. These lucky couples!!

Joan brought along a friend from Danville WV.  I think it was West Virginia or Virginia. I'm so bad with listening sometimes!  Anyway, her name is Barbara and she was so nice to chat with.  Here she is picking out wools for a small piece she will be doing.  She went home with quite a few items from the shop, for many different projects. Will be keeping her busy until next year! Hope she comes back to join us sometime.
Nancee is pumping out her rugs like Joan. Just one after the other.  She just has the border to do on the dog rug.  Just lovely!

Nancee was busy cutting lots of grass at her home earlier in the day, and didn't feel like working. So there were books to look at and wool to buy.  Just look at the stack !  Linda just got in the new wools from Rebecca Erb and Heavens to Betsy. Soo there is lots to choose from!  Nancee was having quite a bit of company this weekend. I'm glad she took the time to just relax.  Hoping her visits with family are even more relaxing and filled with great times together.
Everyone was just busy hooking, reading, relaxing and chatting away the whole day.   Linda was doing punch needle and I will wait to take a picture when it's all done. It's turning out so cute.
Bonnie is still getting her eggs done.
Jackie came to find a sky for the background. Her grandson told her how to do the rabbits and explained what he wanted in the sky.  She worked on binding a rug with wool strips.
Joanne was making great progress on her rug.  I have to say it was the MOST that I ever saw Joanne reverse hook.  She was pulling this out and that out.  Oh MY!!  I wish I would have gotten a picture of her ripping.  She never does that!!  Isn't this great? Very old looking, and I love the yellow flowers.
And me?  Well, I was trying to finish up this piece I started and never picked up again.  Just need to fill in the background. Would love to get to sit and finish it this weekend, so it will be done.  I am currently thinking of my next rug.  Have a few choices in my  mind. Will just have to wait and share that with you later :).

Along with have a wonderful day with friends, I also received a wonderful Easter gift from my Secret Pal.
I'm thinking my Secret Pal needs to take a break from the gifting department.  I have been so spoiled!   What a sweet package she put together.  Delicious dark chocolates, a sweet necklace with a cross and the word Faith in it, a fan for my hot flashes.... I have never had a fan that puts off such cool wind and have such power behind it!, and also there was a Gift Certificate for Thymes Remembered!  See what I mean by being spoiled??  Waaaay to much.  If you are reading this, I just want to say Thank You, and that I absolutely Love everything. I can't wait to use the G.C.  I'm thinking next weekend when I meet up with my friend Beth :)

I really don't have plans this weekend other than the usual cleaning, pitching, re-organizing still.  No place urgent that I have to be. So maybe, just maybe, I'll be getting that time to sit and hook for a bit.  I also wanted to paint up a board to put my punch needle piece on that I haven't showed you. I was only allowed to show it to the group I belong too.  I'll share the story with you when I do post it.

Whatever your plans are, make the best out of your weekend... Here's wishing you lots of free time for yourself!!!
