It felt like summer..

What a beautiful couple of days we had in a row! No rain!! Just sunshine and warmth. Ok, yesterday was a bit hot even for me, but it was still so nice to look outside and not see any rain. Today,,,,, they are calling for rain and it's grey and gloomy out there.

Monday I went out to East Berlin to Becky's house for a hook-in/picnic. We sat outside the whole day. I have to say that every time I've been out to Becky's it is usually dark out and have never seen her home the way I did that day. It is so warm and charming. So inviting. Inside and out. Here is a wider angle of her home. She has a large piece of property and she has a smaller building that I didn't get a shot of that she makes her pottery in. There was lots of food to eat, and it was so nice just sitting around catching up with each other.
Katie is working on her dancing bunnies. A few of the girls have done this rug as well. And it is so nice to see how each of them did theirs. Katie's is nice and bright!

As a group, when we like a pattern, we all seem to want to do it. Here is another rug that many of us have done. I'm glad I was able to get 3 of them together for you to see. Becky's (L), Kim (in the back and Janice on the Right).
Got a few shots of the girls working on their pieces.
Here, Kim is working on her 2nd piece of the same rug. She wanted 2 of them to put in her cabin!

Tonya brought along a piece that she was going to whip, but realized it would probably fit on a sewing bench that she has. And for all you hit or miss lovers out there, take a look at this one! Isn't it wonderful?? This is Tonya's too.
Becky took me inside to show me a piece that she is working on but was too big to bring outside. Her back was bothering her that day, and I'm hoping she is feeling better by now! This piece is just beautiful. She said that all the wool in this piece is from Rebecca Erb.

And somebody couldn't resist being in a photo. This is her son's cat that she is watching until him and he and his wife come back from hiking the Continental Divide. He was so friendly and affectionate.

I have been quite busy hooking up some mats for Colonial Day in Septemeber. I was able to get 6 pieces done since last week! Hooking in my new (clean and organized) room has been such a pleasure. I know, I keep saying it, but it feels good to say it LOL.
Here are the pieces that I have gotten done. These are designed by me. I was able to finish up whipping 5 of them yesterday and I whipped 2 of them while I was at a hook-in on Monday. (shows how much talking gets done lol)
This one, I tried to step out of my comfort zone of colors. I ripped a few times, but I am pleased with it. (won't be upset if it doesn't sell !) And this piece is a pattern from Buttermilk Basin. Had the paper pattern for quite a few years, bought it at a show. One of those "had to have" pieces. Always wanted to do it up, so this was a good time!

I'm glad I've been as productive as I have. I'm trying to continue with this pace, since the show is in September. Today I will go over my list and see what is next to get accomplished. (but first I need to vacuum my clean, organized room ) LOL. I want to stay motivated to be in there!!
Hard to believe that August is here. Nicole started Band Camp this week. Runs from Monday to Thursday and this is her schedule. I know "I" wouldn't want it!! 8:30-12:30, a break for lunch which they have to bring their lunch. They are not allowed to leave. Then more practice from 1:30-3:30 and they get to come home for dinner. Then back at 5:30-9:00! She is exhausted when she gets home. She was chosen to be section leader this year which I think she is excited about. And a HUGE praise for her came yesterday. She went on an interview for a job and she got it!!! Starts this Friday!! She has been trying since school let out to get a job. No calls at all. She even followed up with them a few times, but nothing. So she had to make some decisions about sports. She won't be doing cross country, but may consider swimming. She will need to see how her homework load is for this year. With an AP History class this year, I know she will be busy. She already had to do a report over the summer which is due this Friday. So we'll see how things go. But I'm really happy for her!!!
Now time to get off here and get some things done. George has been off work for the past 2 weeks and is getting some things that he wanted to get done too.
Hope all of you are having a wonderful week!! If it's sunny where you are, get outside and do something. And if it's rainy or grey out like it is here, stay inside and create something for yourself.....

Hi Kathy - seems like you had a great time in E. Berlin. That "hit and Miss" rug is a WINNER!!! I have taken a hint from you and am trying to organize my hooking room. This is the laugh of the century! With students coming in Sept. I needed to start - what a mess. Hope to see you tomorrow.

What great rugs your group is working on! So fun to see them all. My group met yesterday too, if you'd care to stop by my blog to see our rugs. I hope to share pictures of Kay's wonderful home later today.

Your picnic hook-in looked like a lot of fun - too funny with all the same rugs being hooked! Love your new mats - you are doing a great job! Can't wait to see what else you have at Colonial days! Congrats to Nicole on entering the workforce
