Thursday Hooking

Fun day with the girls at Grant Street Woolworks yesterday.  Got there a little later than usual, and Linda had some shoppers that were there and gone already. Everyone was busy working on something.

Amy, Marilyn, and Diana were all huddled together.  Marilyn was trying to help Diana with her crocheting. She was trying to find a mistake in it. Took quite a while, but Marilyn found it.  Meanwhile, Diana hooked on her fox.

A new person to the group is Alice below. She is starting on a star.  Making great progress!

Teresa has been making these sunflowers for a show she was doing that happened to be today. I'm sure she sold out :)

And Nancee has been working on a Maggie Bonanomi design.

I forgot to take a picture of the punch needle I am working on. Will be selling some things at the Log House this Christmas. So far, so good :).

Linda has been starting up the hook ins again on a weekly basis. I'm sure she will send out an email if something comes up and she can't hold it.  During the Summer everyone is busy, and the hook ins were slow.  Glad that things are picking up again!  So if you aren't busy on a Thursday, stop on by!

I did get my Fall decorations out on Wednesday. I don't put a ton out like I do at Christmas time, and I'm thinking I'll even cut back some at Christmas this year. Less to put away after it's all over :). Looking forward to some punching  time after I get my chores done tomorrow!

Hope you all have a Creative weekend!!.

Annual Power Day

What a Beautiful Saturday to take a ride on the motorcycle out to Hagerstown Md to their Annual Power Day event at the Volvo plant.   Lots of entertainment for the employees and their families along with being open to the public.  I think one of the big attractions is driving a truck for a buck :).  Did this many years ago with the kids.
I was able to remember to take a few pic's of some older Mack trucks.

some before shots before they finished the above pic.

and just a fun one that caught my eye.

After we ate and George gave me another tour through the plant to see some new things going on, we headed off on the bike to West Virginia to a coworkers home who was having a picnic for several of the people George works with. Wish I could have taken pic's of the ride, but very hard to do on the back of the bike lol.  So I just enjoyed it for all of us :).  A truly relaxing day.
The weather could not have been more perfect for the ride home as well in the evening.  Not real keen on driving in the dark, but there weren't too many people on the road, so that was nice.

The temps are going to be lower this week, so I think I'll take advantage and get some outside work done during the day and hoping to get some hooking or punching done in the evenings.

Have a Creative week ahead!!!

A little more hooking

Happy Sunday to you all,

Been in the mood to hook up a couple items for my Etsy shop.  Link is on my side bar if anyone is interested.   I know the weather change is inevitable!  I'm enjoying seeing everyone's pumpkins they are hooking.  And with all the colors available today, I decided to do a dusty blue one.

I also thought it would be fun to just hook up a few dusty orange pumpkin color pillows.  Went with different sizes and I am offering them as a set.

Maybe I should get to "dusting" my house. It sure does need it from all the hooking going on :).

Have a Wonderful week ahead!!

It's been a while.....

Is it really September?  Fall just around the corner?   I'm not looking forward to what comes after Fall, so I'm not going to think about it right now :).

It sure has been a while since my last post. Pretty busy Summer.  Lots of remodeling going on with our upstairs.  Hubby put down new flooring. Love not having carpet!!  Of course with that, comes painting walls, new trim to paint and all the little things that go along with trying to complete it.  Those HGTV shows  get done in just a few days! Cracks us up lol.  But we are now on to the last thing which is the guest bathroom. Thankfully, it's not something that we neeeed to use, so George is taking his time with it. But it shouldn't be too much longer!  Next year we will focus on the main floor and do a little at a time and as the budget allows.
Here is a shot of my wool room now. I have room on the walls to hang a few more things, and I'm hoping to be inspired to what to create as things settle down around here.

So with the busy Summer, came a slump in creating.  I just lost interest. It sure kept the wool room clean for a while LOL.    My friend Nancee and I decided to do the same rug a little while back and she finished hers before me.  I have since completed mine and have it hung above my jelly cupboard in my bedroom. I love seeing the same rug done in different colors/backgrounds.  Mine is the light background and hers is the dark.  It sure was fun!

Not sure what my next project will be. I am currently working on an order.  The Holidays will be here before we know it, so maybe it's a good time to get started on some gifts.

Yesterday there was a hook in at Grant St. Woolworks in Chambersburg.  It sure was nice seeing everyone again. With the busy Summer, there have been fewer hook ins. But it's starting to pick up again. Looking forward to next week.  Perhaps I'll get out of my slump and be more creative :).  Always inspiring to be around others and surrounded by ALL that wool in the shop!

I hope you all have had a Wonderful Summer!  Enjoy your weekend :)

Merry Christmas to All ~~~~

Merry Christmas Everyone

What a hectic time it always becomes between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year, I chose to make things more simpler for myself, but still........ things have a way of creeping up at the last minute.  As time goes by, life goes by even quicker!

Going to enjoy what is left of this year and reflect on all the memories that were made with family and friends.  I couldn't be more happier these days, more filled with love. My hope is to pass it along to everyone I come in contact with. A smile goes a long way, a hug, a kind word, a thank you, a Merry Christmas  or God Bless you.  I wish you could feel what I feel. And maybe some of you do. If you do, pass it along....  You will be Blessed for it :).

May your Christmas be as Special as each one of you are!

Kathy

It was Wonderful

What a Wonderful month of October to celebrate my Birthday. Sorry it's over, but God willing, there will be another one Next Year to Celebrate!  Thank you to all my friends and family for making it so memorable!

I had been busy working on this stitching piece, and finally finished it last week.  I will set it aside for the complete  finishing for another time. I have other items that need to be made for a show on the weekend of Thanksgiving. It's the Little Log House in East Berlin, that runs from Black Friday through Sunday. I want to get these items done, so I can start on some Christmas gifts. I'm not stressing though. If I don't have the time OR the energy, then that's ok.  They won't get done, and I can vow to start earlier next year??  Are you laughing at me yet? I know you are...  Don't we always say that?  LOL.  Hey, it is what it is!

Have a Blessed week everyone!

Just a little bit ~

I don't have a ton of Fall items to put out. So I gathered them more in one area where I can view them from the other rooms. The kitchen.  I thought as I got older, I'd spend less time in there, but geesh, we have to eat! So someone has to do the cooking :).

Here is just a quick shot I took a little while back, and yes the lap tops on the floor are now moved lol.

And here is a quick shot of the cross stitch piece I am working on. I am moving right along and plan on getting a lot more done today!  It's a Stacy Nash pattern called Sarah Cricks Works.  I plan on putting my name in her place.  I believe Sharon gave this to me a while back . :)  The dyed linen is from Lori Brechlin.

Have a Wonderful day dear friends~

This and that~~

Wow, Friday already?  This week has flown by.  Have really been enjoying my  Birthday month so far! :)  Spent the day of my Birthday going to lunch with Nancee and then hitting a couple antique shops. Came home with a few little treasures from one along with some Wonderful Birthday gifts from Nancee.  Had dinner (pizza) with hubby George, and he even ventured out to the store while I was gone and got some cupcakes for the evening dessert! :)

I recently Joined a Facebook group created by Lori Brechlin called The Out of Hand Rug Hookers Group .  It's growing quickly!  Lori was very generous and gave a free pattern for a challenge.  Santa Claws, a sweet little Christmas Cat.  I thought why not? Could make it any size, but I left mine small.  Completed size is 9 1/2" x 11".  Very quick to hook up!

Went to the Thursday hook in at Grant Street yesterday.  It was hopping with some new customers which is always nice to see.  Supporting your local shops is what keeps them in business!
Diana finished hooking her Rooster and was working on whipping it yesterday.

Deb finished hooking her Uncle Sam

Mindy is a new rug hooker to the group and is working on her background.

Teresa is "happily" working on her coiled snowmen.

I didn't get any more shots of the day. Linda had gotten a cake for the "recent" Birthday girls.  Barb, Joan and myself. Sorry Joan wasn't able to make it to the hook in. Thank you Linda, it was delicious!  Right after the cake, I had to leave to come home and make sure George was ok and make him some dinner. He has a check up today from his surgery last week.  He is feeling much better today than he has!! Great sign :).

Going to get a new cross stitching project out later on today to start working on. My goal is to have something to be able to pick up in the evening while watching tv. I'm sooo tired of sitting like a lump on a log. I just need to "do it"!

Hope you all get creative today!!

Bountiful Blessings completed

Happy Sunday everyone!  I completed stitching my Bountiful Blessings by Nan Lewis on Thursday while waiting for George to get out of surgery.  It was a long day for sure.  Even though it's an outpatient surgery, you can always be sure you are going to be there for quite some time.  He is fine. Getting stronger every day! That is a Blessing in itself , and we are thankful :).

I have been cold all day today. Can't seem to get warm. I can really feel the Fall in the air. So to warm up, I decided to age my little pillow and stand by the toaster oven watching it while it dried and rubbing my hands together to feel the heat lol. Should have done it earlier in the day! Such a sweet design, and it sure did stitch up quickly!

Yesterday I went to dinner with my Son and Dil to celebrate my Birthday. Craig is on call this coming week, so it wouldn't have suited him. Doesn't matter to me when! It was a wonderful 2 1/2 hours spent. Great meal, great conversations. Wouldn't trade our time spent for anything!

Tomorrow I'm headed out to lunch with my friend Nancee, and seeing what kind of trouble we can get in to or not lol.  I will make George a lunch so he won't have to do anything but relax and enjoy his day. Will be home for dinner and I'm picking up a pizza!! After all it's My Birthday and I get to choose :).

I hope you all have a very Blessed week ahead!!

And so it begins~~~ Happy October!!

October is here and if you have followed me at all in the past, you know that I start celebrating my Birthday early :).  Again, I will enjoy the entire month of October. Doing things for others, doing things for me, just enjoying every day!  I try and do that every day of the year, but when October hits, I just want to celebrate more !

I started this cross stitch piece last night. It was gifted to me last year from my friend Nancee. The pattern is called Bountiful Blessings. Designed by Nan Lewis of Threadwork Primitives.  Sweet design that will be made into a pillow. Am pleased with how much I got done in one night.  Will share when it is complete!

Off to sit and stitch some more while watching some tv.  Happy October to you!

Punchneedle

It's been a while since I did any punch needle. Feels good to be able to work on something for myself.  Took Saturday to just do nothing. No running around, just stayed in. Jump started the day by getting my chores done early and then went up to my wool room and got out the pattern "box".  Let's just say I can't close the lid lol.

I picked out this pattern by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farm.  It's called Colonial Hill Farm. Felt good to sit and punch for several hours.  Sunday I had some grocery shopping to do and then finished punching this piece later in the day.  Today I decided to finish it into a pillow, backed with cotton and used a wool strip on the edge and whip stitched that on. Stuffed it with snippets from my rugs.

I'm not sure if I want to do another punch or start a cross stitch piece next!  Will have to see what tomorrow brings~~

I hope everyone's week is off to an Awesome start!

Hook In

Even with a start to a dreary day yesterday, Grant Street Woolworks still had a decent turn out.  I didn't even take my sun glasses with me (never leave home without them).  Always a great day for sharing and laughing.  Does the heart and mind good :).

I started this rug a while back and then just put it down. I had to get ready for Colonial Day which was a few weeks back.  Now that it is over, I can get back to it.  I will save this rug to work on for Thursdays hook in, and do some cross stitch or punch needle during the week. That's the plan anyway! All neutrals with some red and black. It will go on my dining room table when finished.

There was finishing going on with other hookers.

Nancee with her Original Design

And Joan with her scrappy rug. Sorry I didn't get it right side up!

Diana sooooo close to being finished with her Rooster rug!

Patty has been coming for a little while now. Working on her Santa.

And Tammie just came last night and was getting started on her second project!

Linda has been busy hooking up samples of the different wools she has in the shop.  I think she will be busy for a while :).

Soooooo, If you are ever in the area and need some patterns or thread, or wool, or supplies, or, or, or......   you know where to come!!

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my last post. They are sooooo appreciated!
Have a Blessed day everyone!

Autumn already?

I am so amazed at how fast the Summer, no wait, the Year is going! Is it really Autumn?? Sitting here with my cup of coffee looking at the drizzle outside. I can just feel the change in the air. I am a fan of the colors that the season brings, but I'm not a fan of the cooler temperatures. I know a lot of people like it.
It certainly has been a very busy year for me. Lots of changes for me. I'm enjoying it. Some of the changes aren't always happy, but I press on. The way the year is going by so fast, so is my life.  Trying to live every day with a smile.

I've slacked off on the creativity this year. Just the "burned out" feeling.  But I did manage to finish my big rug and hung it over my couch.  It was actually done in June I believe.  I also just finished a punch needle piece for a Christmas present. So I'm ahead of the game, just can't show it here :).  I have another rug in progress,  a simple geometric.  Will try and post it another day.  I recently started looking at blogs again, so I guess I felt the urge this morning to give an update.
Today is the hook in at Grant Street.  If the brain doesn't fail me, I'll try and get some shots of what's going on.  I hope it's a good turnout!

Wishing you all a Wonderful day!

A New Year ahead ~~

Wow! Another year is about to unfold. What will it hold for me, my family and friends? I have noooo idea, but it certainly will  be fun to watch!  Will there be changes for us all?  I sure hope so. Big ones, little ones, it doesn't matter. As long as it's a step forward. One day at a time.....and when there is an obstacle in our way, let us not allow it to hold us back. Keep pushing ahead!!

I'm welcoming 2014 with open arms, and I hope you do the same :)  Live every day (to the fullest), Love every day...(even when it's hard), and Learn every day...(your mind will thank you) ~~~

Wishing you All a Very Happy and Healthy New Year!

As the time draws near~~~ Merry Christmas

This was a favorite book of mine when I was a child that my Mom would read to us. Oh how I treasure those memories.

As the time gets closer to Christmas this year, I'd like to just say Merry Christmas to you All, and my hope for each of you is that God will Bless you and comfort you and direct you in the path that He has for you, and in ways that you would never imagine!  May it be in leaps and bounds during the next year! I hope you are surrounded with Love from family, friends, pets, and even  strangers that you can give a lending hand to.

Time is flying by, faster and faster as I get older. I approach each day with eyes to see something new, something that I've missed or taken for granted. My kids are getting older, going in directions that I'm so proud of. And I'm sure that direction will change again and again as they continue to grow. All I can do is pray that I will be around to see many of those changes.

I've been keeping busy with stitching still, and hope to get back to hooking in the near future. I'm actually picking up cross stitch patterns that I "had" to have from a while back. It feels good to have completed some of them and added them to my decorations this year.

To each of you... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy Thanksgiving

On this day and every day, I wish you all many Beautiful Blessings.  Let us be Thankful for everything.... the good and the not so good...  We can't grow without having them both!
Every day is a Blessing to me, I hope it is to you~~     Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Shhhhhhhh

The rain has stopped for a little bit!  What a messy couple of days with the steady rain that we have had. I know we need it, but it's just soooo dreary.  Not something that puts someone in a happy  mood, or maybe it does. That's what makes the world go round :).
I'm having such a fun time celebrating my Birthday "month" lol.  If there is no one to share my time with, I find something to smile about. It's really not hard when you have a warped sense of humor ! I laugh at myself all the time. Who doesn't do something stupid at least one time during the day?? And if you can't laugh at yourself, then you are missing out!
Family and friends have made it so special. I thank each one of you!! I try to enjoy each day out of the year, but save October for the "extra" special.  Mostly FOODS that I want to dive into and not feel so horrible about.  I can say that some nights have made me feel miserable, BUT I have a smile on my face lol.  I will behave this weekend with that since I have enough stuff to keep me busy around the house. And that will  keep me out of the kitchen for a while.
Guess I'll start cleaning up my wool room and sewing room for starts today.  Now THAT will bring a smile, just playing and sorting through all my things. Tonight will be for stitching.  I'm trying to push myself to get back to hooking my big rug. I'm sure before the end of the month, some loops will be pulled!
Have a Gorgeous weekend, even if it starts raining again.... shhhhhhhh. (maybe it will hold off~~)

October-ish

Good day everyone!  It's hard to believe that October is here. The "ish" part is that it's supposed to be 84 degrees today.  The leaves are changing, but the temp is still in Summer mode.  I'm  Not complaining. I wore jeans yesterday and thought this morning, no way. Shorts and sandals for another day!
Keeping busy this week with cleaning and getting some Fall decorations out. Not going to do too much. Just enough to put some color in a few rooms.
I thought I'd share my last two stitching pieces with you.  I plan on framing them, but then plans seem to change with me from day to day.  I still have to age them some.  I have one more coverlet pattern to do for the grouping. Not when I'll start it, but it may be soon. I've really been enjoying watching/listening to the tv in the evening while doing this. I will be getting back to some hooking soon as well. It's just nice to take a break and switch things up now and then.

Time for another cup of coffee and then get my day going...  Hoping your day is filled with things you enjoy to do!
(and yes..... to some of you who are thinking it......  The celebrating has begun! Each day this month, I will be taking the time to do something for me - as well as doing something for someone else. Whether it be a smile, a phone call, an email, something/anything to let them know I'm thinking of them and that I care for them. )
