A very rewarding week

Have you ever looked back at the week that just passed and say to yourself, wow, that was a great week? I try to appreciate every day, but sometimes I don't pay that much attention because it's the same routine day in and day out. Well this week started a new chapter in my life, and I had a Great week! I started a job this past Monday, and it's only 3 days a week. I've been a stay at home mom since my son was born, and that was 22 years ago. Pat decided that she wanted to retire, and I was asked if it was something I would be interested in, and I said yes. Pat helped Linda sew WW1 uniforms., and she "really" knows her stuff. Me? Well, let's just say it's going to take some time. But I'm very willing to learn and feel that I can "help" as much as I'm capable of. I'm always eager to learn knew things. I will also help out in the Rug Shop when needed too. It's really an answer to prayer. I've been praying for quite a long time for an opportunity to make some money and do what I love to do. And it's amazing to see how things fall into place. My daughter ended up getting a job that she can walk to. If it were any where else, I wouldn't be able to work because I would have to take her. It puts a smile on my face to recognize how God provides and has the perfect timing for everything in my life.
So this week, I learned some things from Pat and then just watched from a distance. Trying to pick up little things. I did some hand sewing and then made some ties. Amazing how you can enjoy even the simplist of things. It was a real treat in my mind. Pat, miss you, and I hope you are enjoying your time of leisure!!! Missed you yesterday at the hook-in! Sure hope you will be there next week!!

Yesterday was the hook-in and it was a nice day. When I got there, Linda was the only one there and she was dyeing some wool.
She was using up some left over dye in jars. Came up with some wonderful colors (with lots of laughs, just wondering how they would be lol)

Doris came later and I was punching away on my pn piece, and didn't get a shot of her. Sorry about that Doris! I left in the afternoon to take my daughter to get her hair cut and then came back for a little bit after dinner. Linda is working on a sample for a pumpkin mitten class she is going to have shortly. ****I'm sure she was done with it by the time she left last night***** (there really wasn't that much left to do.)

Sherry came last night too. She was looking for some wool to color plan a rug she is doing. And she spent the time transferring it onto her foundation.

Then Barb came a little while later to work on her quilt. We certainly had a lot of laughs last night. I have a busy day today with running around so I had to leave them there to continue with their giggling.
I'd like to get as much done today as I can so I will have time this weekend to finish up some items for next weekends show. It will be here before I know it. I'm headed out now to wash my car, and get that done with. Been long over due.
To all who are traveling this Labor Day weekend, safe travels to you. And those who are staying home, I hope you have an enjoyable relaxing time with family and friends.

Thank you, Kathy, for helping to make my retirement possible (and guilt free!!!) So glad you had a good first week. When I first started out I asked Linda a gazillion questions and then promptly forgot what she told me! It just takes time to remember all the details.
I am so happy you are my replacement!

Awww, thanks Pat! But remember, Linda gave you a "purple" slip lol. You could get a phone call any time!! Guess I need to get myself a little notebook for all the details.
I practiced on your sewing machine the other day. I like the leg paddle to lift the presser foot. And the way it cuts the thread by pressing back on the peddle. Not too hard to get used to at all. Hope you have a wonderful Holiday!

Looks like a perfect day to me too.
Wish I had a better place to dye my wools, hard to use the stove when I need it and not much room in my kitchen.
