Taking the plunge

I enjoy on a daily basis reading blogs of different individuals and have always wondered if it's something I could do, or would want to do. Well, tonight I was playing around, and have now created one of my own. This is all new to me, and I really don't know what I'm doing. Computers are not my specialty and I am hoping that I will come away learning a little more about this box that I am always on. (I get tired of asking my kids how to do something lol.) I am hoping to share with you my journey of rug hooking as well as other interests of mine. I guess I'll start off by showing you one of my favorite rugs that I have hooked. It is called Hickory Leaves, and because it is on burlap (something I choose never to hook on again), it has a home on the floor next to my bed. Not much traffic there. I took a class with Norma Batastini, and this is the rug I worked on. In my own mind I had planned on using different shades of green thorughout, but that idea was not working. Norma was a huge help and this is what we came up with. I dyed all the wool myself except for a few pieces that I bought from her. I am proud to say that it made it into the Sept/Oct 2005 issue of Rug Hooking Magazine and won 3rd place in the small category at the Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs Show that was held in York, Pa in May of 2005. So this is just a start in my hopes of sharing with you what I like to do. Thanks for taking a look!
