Is the Cold......

Keeping you indoors these days?  I know it's where I would rather be. But with Christmas fast approaching, I'm out in this weather like a nut!

The hook in was quiet yesterday. Figuring the cold was keeping everyone home. I didn't get there until early afternoon. Had things to finish up around the house and then run a few errands.  By the time I got there, Linda was all by herself.  She got a lot done while it was quiet. She wrote out her Christmas cards :).

No one came until close to evening time.  I managed to work on a special order of mini hooked pillow/pincushions that I received. I should be done with them soon.

There were 3 girls who did show up, and I got shots of their work and not them.  A professional photographer I would never be lol.

This is Cherina's rug.

 And Bethany's

And Genny was doing some hand stitching. She is making tree skirts for her wool feather tree's.

Next time I will have to get a shot of the 3 new additions to the shop.  After Thanksgiving, Linda brought back with her 3 guinea pigs that belonged to her Grandchildren.  She'll be taking care of them for a while.  (I think she is attached to them, and they aren't going anywhere lol ).. I'll introduce you to them in another post.

Today I was out running some errands and when I came back out of one store, I was shocked, totally shocked to see it snowing. And the ground was already starting to get covered.  So whoever was the one who wished it, stop it!  What a total mess it was. It was so cold out, that it immediately stuck and it was slippery. Took me half an hour to get home when it would normally take less than 10 minutes.  People were slipping and sliding, and I had a fuel truck in front of me that couldn't stay in a straight line.  Yes, I kept my distance!  Even the tiniest incline in the road, and people had a hard time getting up it.  Was finally happy to be pulling into the driveway.

Took my time getting the mail today. Too cold to run out there!  But when I finally did, I was sooo happy to see a package for me.  Our on-line group AAPG was having our Christmas swap.  Deirdre drew up two designs and we picked one to create for our secret partner.  Well, Lori had my name.  Ooh, I was so excited to open the package, but waited until I cleaned up the kitchen. It was a mess. I wanted to sit and relax while openening it.  Lori chose to do the sheep pattern. Oh my, it is so sweet. She had needle punched it.  I found out she used yarn for the sheep. I hope the close up, you will be able to see it.  Along with that, she gave me a cross stitched pillow, some candy, a fabric candy cane with a bell on the tip, a tin of lip balm and a gorgeous Red piece of hand dyed wool.  I am just tickled with her generosity. Thank you Lori for such a wonderful Christmas package!

Tomorrow I will be meeting up with a friend for a cup of coffee in the morning.  There is a really great coffee shop here in Shippensburg.  They have specialty coffees, and I only treat myself to one of them every so often. They are a bit pricey. But oooooh sooo good :)  And in the Summer, their coffees taste wonderful frozen... Right Joanne? A real dessert!

Other than that, depending on the weather, I may run to a few stores, but then I will be in for the weekend.  I want to curl up in my chair and do some hooking and stitching.  I feel it's time to put the dvd of White Christmas in while I'm hooking :)

Wishing you all a warm and fabulous weekend!!

I'm glad you made it home safely. It sounds scary. Your goodies from Lori are just most wonderful. Will be you showing the special order pinkeeps you mentioned? I would like to see 'em.

Stay warm!

Smiles,

Betty

Hi Kathy,
Sounds like you're back to your norman energetic self!
Glad you made it home Ok through the snow. It seems like people forget how to drive in snow from year to year. LOL! By the time we went out later in the afternoon, the roads were clear.

Hope you have most of your
Christmas preparations under control. Enjoy the quiet time hooking and stitching over the weekend.

I've got most of my shopping done, with the exception of a few little things here and there. I like to get out in the weather, I'm weird that way I suppose. However, today, I think I'm going to stay home and get a few things done around here....maybe tomorrow will be my running aorund day!

Kathy, I'm glad that you made it home safe and sound. There are so many bad drivers on the road with cell phones and not paying attention on bare roads that it's even scarier on bas slippery roads. Having some thoughtful friends to warm your heart with their little home made gifts is special. JB

Delicious coffee in Shippensburg?!?!?!?!? I'm there! lol! So glad you made it home safely! It's usually the very first part of a snowfall that is the most dangerous... have a cozy weekend hooking and stitching!

Kathy,
Love all the goodies from Lori! That must be fun to participate in something like that! All the girls are sooooo creative!
Glad you are feeling better! This is such a busy time of year and not good to be feeling lousy.
Hope you don't get the weather we had here today. I'll try and send it in another direction! LOL
Stay safe when you drive or go the mailbox ;-)

What wonderful goodies from Lori. I love the p/n piece! And Burt's Bees - oh I love that stuff.
I hope you had time to hook and watch a movie. I'm still knee deep in Christmas decorations. Hopefully there is a light at the end of my tunnel and it's not a freight train.
Hugs :)
