Almost done

Here is the log cabin half round I've been working on. I'm liking it. The door isn't as bright as the picture, and still may change it to a different red. Not sure yet. It's not very big, and is for over the door. I think it measures around 9x27.

It's been a pretty yucky week for me. I noticed on my way back from the York folk art show that I had a pain in my elbow. Didn't think too much of it at the time other than maybe I held something funny or twisted it the wrong way. Over the next few days I thought I was losing my mind. My right arm was very sensitive to the touch as if it had sunburn or I had a fever. Even checked my temp over the next few days and nothing, but it sure felt like I had one. My joints were hurting in my hand too. Then I woke up one morning and I thought I had cut the palm of my hand somehow. Right in the crease it was red and sore. I put some neosporin on it thinking it would be ok. Well, then I developed what looked like a rash near the red line. Thought now what??? Started to put cortisone on that. All the while, I'm still feeling feverish, arm is burning like sunburn, and I have no clue what is going on. Well, then the rashy bumps spread to 2 of my fingers. I'm thinking poison? I have never had it in my life and I haven't touched anything. In between all of this the hot flashes are getting worse, and if you look at me the wrong way (or even the right way) I feel I could cry in a heart beat. Last night was my daughters swimming banquet and I really didn't want to go, but I did. I was pumping myself with iburprofen, tylenol, whatever I could and it barely touched it. She lettered in swimming by the way and we were very proud of her! This morning I get up and my hand hurt so bad, I said that's it. I called and went to the doctor. I explained everything to him and he looked at it and said I've heard of it happening on the hand, but haven't seen it in person. Gee, glad I could help! Now what is it? I have Shingles!!! Yep, shingles. On my right hand. It hurts to type, hold anything, make a fist, touch anything. Soooo, we are hoping it was caught early enough for the medicine he gave me to help cut the duration down a bit. Also gave me pain medicine which I don't like to take, but WILL take in the next couple hours after Nicole is home from school and I don't have to drive. I just can't believe it. I'm just praying it doesn't last too long. So that's been my week.
I will try and hook later. Maybe after the pain med kicks in, if it doesn't knock me out. I hate taking that stuff. It will get done a little at a time. Not much more to go, and it's frustrating that I just can't sit and finish it!
Ok, I'm done whining. We are all allowed to be in a poopy mood from time to time. Here's hoping you all have a wonderful, creative weekend!

Kathy, hope you have taken some of your medication by now and hope they bring you some relief! I'm praying that they caught it in time that it doesn't last too long. Hope you can at least sit outside for a little bit to get some sunshine. It looks like it's 74 degrees here! Take care!

Kathy, I'm a friend of Joanne's and I read your blog as often as you update. My 78 year old neighbor had shingles several years ago on her face. It went into her eye and she's had a terrible time! She ended up getting a corneal transplant and even now, still deals with the pain.

Take your medication. I don't like my pain meds either because they knock me out but it's better than hurting that badly. Please, please just take care of yourself.

And finally, your rug is very pretty. Love the colors you're using.

Kathy, I have had shingles twice and they hurt like an absessed tooth! That's the only way I could describe the pain. It's terrible! Mine was in my leg and my ankle and toes hurt so bad, I could hardly walk. I feel for you...it will get better. Hookers can NOT have shingles in their hands! Take care...
